After retirement speculation this offseason, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce decided to stay for at least one more year. The NFL veteran is in his 14th season in the league at age 37.
He may not be in his prime anymore, but Kelce’s statistics this season line up with the numbers he has put up in recent years. He has registered 24 catches for 343 yards and two touchdowns over six games this year.

In a season where quarterback Patrick Mahomes has not had much to work with from the wide receiver position, Kelce has been available every Sunday. He co-led the team in receiving yards during the team’s tough Week 7 loss at the Seattle Seahawks.

One thing to admire about the 37-year-old is his durability. He has played at least 15 games a year since his breakout season in 2014. Not many TEs can boast about that.
It is for that reason that Kelce’s inclusion on the Week 8 injury report was surprising. He was originally listed as limited with a right ankle injury. On Friday, the Chiefs confirmed on X that he will be available to play on Sunday.

That game will take place in the Rocky Mountains as the team visits their division rival Denver Broncos. It is set to be the CBS marquee game of the week in the 4:25 p.m. ET time slot.
In more good news, No. 1 WR Rashee Rice will seemingly be back for the Denver game as well. He has not played since Oct. 4 with a hamstring problem but is not specified in the X post which indicates his available status.
Kansas City already beat Denver this season back in Week 1 by a score of 31-10. The Chiefs’ defense was able to dominate the Broncos’ offense, particularly QB Bo Nix, who had an atrocious performance.

The Broncos and Nix have been playing a good bit better since then, and are just a half-game behind the Chiefs for the AFC West outright lead. This will be a huge game for the standings.
