Retail giant Target is eyeing a new store along Tower Road near Denver International Airport, according to a developer’s website.
Illinois-based Kensington Development shows a “proposed Target” in online maps of “Link 56,” a project the firm wants to build at the northwest corner of Tower and 56th Avenue. The site is currently undeveloped.
The store would be about 150,000 square feet, according to plans submitted to Denver. Most Target stores are about 125,000 square feet, but the retailer announced in 2022 that it was rolling out “larger-format” stores with an additional 25,000 square feet.
The retailer’s closest existing store is in The Shops at Northfield in Central Park.
Target didn’t respond to requests for comment last week. The Minneapolis-based company doesn’t list any Colorado stores on its online list of future store openings. An opening on Tower Road would be a ways off. The plans are still being reviewed by the city and construction has not begun.
