P. Terry’s

P. Terry’s restaurant location in San Marcos, Texas. The Austin-based burger chain is expanding to Houston.

P. Terry’s Burger Stand will open a second Houston location in the Spring area, according to Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation documents.

The 50s-inspired Austin burger stand will open in the 20200 block of Champion Forest Dr. as Houston’s second P. Terry’s location. A Fort Bend County location is set to open this fall. Both burger stands will open next to an H-E-B.

The 2,600-square-foot Spring location started construction in January and is expected to finish in October, according to the licensing document. The estimated cost amounts to $1.5 million, according to the document.

Kathy and Patrick Terry founded the Austin-staple in 2005 with the intention to remain affordable while producing quality food with good service, according to P. Terry’s website. Despite growing to over 30 locations in Texas, P. Terry’s has maintained its low prices, with burgers costing less than $5.

The chain takes pride in using all-natural Angus beef with no hormones or antibiotics and homemade pastries and fries. The burger stand serves hamburgers, veggie burgers, chicken bites, milkshakes and banana bread. It also offers a breakfast burger, potatoes and freshly squeezed orange juice.

This expansion marks a step in P. Terry’s goal to expand. In the past four years, P. Terry’s locations have almost doubled. The teal green restaurants have spread all over the Austin area and San Antonio. Former P. Terry’s CEO Todd Coerver told KXAN that Austin’s economic growth made this expansion possible.

In 2022, Coerver told KXAN that these two locations in Houston were next in their plans for expansion. However, he said they always ensure the new locations can fully support the company’s freshness standards.
