We all know New York will tax it no matter how much it is or what it’s for. From marijuana and cigarettes to cars, houses, and countless other things, we continue to pay some of the highest taxes in the entire country.
While it is true that we pay ridiculous amounts in the Empire State, especially for our schools, officials from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance allow some New Yorkers to get some of our taxes back in a rebate.

The New York State School Tax Relief (STAR) program gives certain Empire State homeowners a property tax payment refund if they meet certain eligibility requirements.
If you qualify for STAR and submit your application, you are in for some good news. Rebate checks are out in the mail and should arrive any day.

If you didn’t apply for your STAR rebate this year, it’s too late to qualify for a refund, but you can apply next year.
