Brittany Guidry and a friend were shot at a meat market in Houston’s South Side in 2020. Guidry died and her friend survived. The gunman hasn’t been caught.

Brittany Guidry was shot and killed in April 2020.

Police said Guidry and a friend were shot while they were sitting in a car at a meat market on Calhoun Road near Jarmese Street, which is just outside the Loop near Calhoun Boulevard.

The shooting happened in broad daylight. Guidry’s friend survived but wasn’t able to provide a good description of the gunman. Police said there were several other witnesses but none came forward with information.

“Over 200 people at the store. I don’t have to say no more, I know you know. Take the time and do the right thing so it can be off your conscious,” Guidry’s mother, Juana Johnson, said. “My daughter was headed off to the Marines. She meant everything to me and I’m not able to rest or sleep.”
