EAST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) – The city of East Hartford celebrated Latin culture with a festival Saturday afternoon.
This is the second year of the event’s existence, but with the amount of people there and the fun they’re having, many would think it had been going on for years.
Food, music, and games were apart of the festivities, with different countries from around the world represented.
Mayor Connor Martin says the city is one of the most diverse in the state, which is reflected through the celebration.
“Whether it be Ecuadorian, Honduras, puertorican, Spanish or Colombian, we not only celebrate but highlight and recognize those different cultures and ethnicities that call east Hartford home. It’s not enough to just hold a festival where we celebrate the culture but we have a number of town departments who are also here to try to connect those communities to the town itself,” he said.
“The kioskos, the food, the music, it’s a Latin day so we need to enjoy the day,” said Diana Martinez, a Hartford resident.
The event rolled on until 7:00 P.M.
