Eduardo Porter was born in Phoenix and grew up in the United States, Mexico and Belgium. He came to The Washington Post following a year as a columnist at Bloomberg Opinion and nearly two decades at the New York Times, where he was a member of the editorial board and wrote the Economic Scene column from 2012 to 2018.
