Welcome back to The MMA Scene, where we share our thoughts on various combat sports-related movies like Jackie Chan’s Panda Plan.
Jackie Chan is now 70 years old, but he is still kicking on the movie screen. Maybe not as high in his latest film, Panda Plan, but he’s still kicking.
The trailer dishes out a good assortment of comedy and action that promises to entertain most Jackie Chan fans who know what to expect.
Panda Plan is written by Wei Xu, Meng Yida, and Zhang Luan and produced by Han Mei and Wei Wang. It stars Chan, Wei Xiang, Han Yabo, Jia Bing, and Ce Shi.
Chan, who plays Jackie, adopts a zoo panda named Hu Hu, but a crime syndicate takes notice and puts a ransom on the capture of the beloved animal. It’s up to Jackie and his team to keep the bad guys away.
It’s a simple plot that is not superhero dark but provides opportunities for mindless fun and patented Jackie Chan action. This looks like something the family might enjoy.
There’s only one problem. The panda in the trailer is clearly a CGI creation and not real. That may turn some people off to the movie. Watch the trailer above and decide for yourself.
Panda Plan officially premiered Oct. 1 in Beijing, and is scheduled to release Oct. 18 in the United States through the distribution of Well Go USA.
