The Knights (3-4, 1-3 in Big 12) nearly pulled off a shocker before No. 10 Iowa State escaped with a 38-35 win, leaving coach Gus Malzahn with a four-game losing streak. New starting quarterback Jacurri Brown and star running back RJ Harvey rushed for a combined 350 yards and four touchdowns, but Brown struggled as a passer, completing just 8 of 20 attempts for 62 yards and two interceptions.
No. 12 BYU is off to a 7-0 start (4-0) after a close call of their own, needing a 35-yard touchdown from Darius Lassiter with 10 seconds left to beat Oklahoma State 38-35. QB Jake Retzlaff threw for 218 yards, two TDs and two INTs, while LJ Martin ran for 120 yards and two scores. The Cougars have the No. 2 offense (34.9 points per game) and No. 3 defense (19 ppg) in the Big 12.
