The Miami Dolphins are 2-6 at the NFL trade deadline.
That makes it hard to envision them as heavy buyers or sellers before the 4 p.m. deadline on Tuesday.
It would make sense for the Dolphins to trade a late-round pick for an edge rusher, defensive tackle or guard/center, if the team and terms aligned.
Miami is not in a sell-off situation. The Dolphins are not in an all-in situation.
If the Dolphins were to trade away a player, running back Jeff Wilson could make sense as he’s fourth on the depth chart.

Dolphins NFL Trade Deadline history
In the last 10 years, the Miami Dolphins have made nine deadline deals.
The Dolphins have added: Chase Claypool, Bradley Chubb, Jeff Wilson, DeAndre Washington, Aqib Talib.
The Dolphins have traded: Chase Edmonds, Jakeem Grant, Isaiah Ford, Kenyan Drake, Jay Ajayi.
Chubb was signed to a long-term deal. Wilson has had some positive moments.
Edmonds had flamed out and Drake and Ajayi had just a bit left in the tank.

Mike McDaniel, Chris Grier approach to NFL trade deadline
Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel was asked on Monday about the trade deadline approach.
“I think there’s no real label on what we’re doing just because I know one that thing that Chris Grier and I both share a strong conviction and belief in this team and what it looks like if you can find a way to get over the hump which we fully expect to,” McDaniel said.
But McDaniel knows Grier must answer the phone.
“At the same time, Chris Grier’s job is to field all business and listen and think both in the short and the long term of the best interest of the franchise and then he comes to me with any and all business that’s real and we discuss from there and he hasn’t brought anything that is real to me,” McDaniel said. “But I know first and foremost, we are absolutely convicted in this team being better than the win-loss column right now and believe that it can make a turn and that’s how we’re approaching each and every day.”
