Corrections & Clarifications: Chase Sapphire Lounge chef Scott Geller’s name was misspelled in an earlier version of this article.

The Phoenix airport is finally getting a Chase Sapphire Lounge after more than two years in development.

Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club will open at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12. It’s across from the restaurants at The Crystals @ Sky Harbor on the way to the high-numbered D gates in Concourse 8 of Terminal 4.

The lounge was first announced in March 2022 along with new restaurants and shops that would anchor this concourse, which opened for Southwest Airlines flights in June 2022. The restaurants opened in August 2023. Chase Sapphire Lounge took longer to finish and its opening was pushed back several times.

Chase gave The Arizona Republic an exclusive sneak preview of the lounge. Here’s what guests can expect.

Is the Chase Sapphire Lounge Phoenix open?

Yes. The Chase Sapphire Lounge at the Phoenix airport opens Tuesday, Nov. 12.

The Chase Sapphire Lounge at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has a design theme inspired by the Southwestern desert.

It’s the fifth Chase Sapphire Lounge in the world. The first opened in May 2023 in Boston, followed by Hong Kong and New York City’s John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports.

Sapphire Lounges are scheduled to open in December in San Diego and in 2025 in Philadelphia and Las Vegas coming.

What’s in the Chase Sapphire Lounge Phoenix?

At 3,500 square feet, the Phoenix Sapphire Lounge is not as spacious as Chase’s lounges in Boston’s Logan airport and New York City’s LaGuardia Airport – or even Sky Harbor’s 13,000-square-foot Centurion Lounge near Terminal 4’s B gates.

But what the Sapphire Lounge lacks in size, it makes up in a luxurious setting with locally curated food and beverages.

“We want you to feel like you’ve got a piece of Arizona inside the lounge,” said Dana Pouwels, Chase’s head of airport lounge benefits.

Visitors will see succulents in nearly every corner, giving the feeling that you’ve stepped into a lush greenhouse. Pouwels said the succulents are an example of how Chase tries to “bring the outside inside” in each lounge.

There’s a living room with a fireplace where artwork from Arizona artist Matthew Kirk hangs from the wall. Local artist Timmy Ham of SLOTH also created artwork for the lounge, including hand-painted license plates for the Airstream inspired by Arizona’s desert landscape.

Yet, guests will still know they’re in an airport. The bar area has panoramic views of the tarmac, where people can see Southwest Airlines planes land and take off.

There’s a mix of bar and table seating throughout the lounge, as well as a round table that can be used for business meetings. Charging ports are available near the seats. There are two gender-neutral bathrooms.

Chase Sapphire Lounge Phoenix menu

Food in the lounge, served in a buffet area and an Airstream trailer retrofitted as a finishing kitchen, comes from James Beard award-nominated chef Stephen Jones. His Phoenix restaurant The Larder & The Delta recently reopened as a fine dining restaurant.

Items served in the buffet area include tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole, ramen bowls, miniature ham and cheese sandwiches, and Rice Krispie squares infused with Sun Butter, an allergy-friendly peanut butter substitute made from sunflower seeds.

An Airstream trailer retrofitted as a kitchen is the focal point of the Chase Sapphire Lounge at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

The Airstream was touted as the centerpiece of the Sky Harbor Lounge. Scott Geller, chef at the lounge, said he thinks the Airstream is a “cute” and “kitschy” feature that reminds him of growing up and taking trips with his family in an Airstream.

In the Airstream kitchen, Geller prepared two specialties available during lunch and dinner: turkey wraps with an avocado spread and red salsa, and buffalo cauliflower topped with scallions and blue cheese. He said the breakfast menu includes a chia pudding and overnight oats blend, and breakfast tacos filled with andouille sausage, poblano peppers and mango salsa. Sauces for these dishes are made in-house.

The bar area features a jar containing house-made trail mix, which includes walnuts, hazelnuts, pistachios, pumpkin seeds, cranberries, dried cherries and two types of raisins. Trail mix to-go bags are available.

Chase Sapphire Lounge Phoenix coffee and drink menu

The lounge’s coffee maker can brew eight types of coffee, and there’s cold brew on tap. The coffee and cold brew are provided by Press Coffee, a local business with 12 standalone locations and seven inside Sprouts Farmers Market stores throughout the Valley.

Wine selections were curated by the New York-based wine shop Parcelle, which Chase described as “one of the country’s most renowned wine retailers.”

Beer, cocktails and soft drinks are available. Nonalcoholic drinks on tap include house-made spa water (water infused with ginger and celery) and a rotating seasonal drink (the current selection is an herbal tea).

All beverages are complimentary for lounge guests, including alcoholic beverages.

Is the food in the Chase Sapphire Lounge free?

All food at the Chase Lounge is complimentary for lounge guests.
