Georgia congressman Mike Collins took time on the floor of the nation’s Capitol on Tuesday to troll the Texas Longhorns. Collins represents GA-10, which is the district that includes Athens and was feeling cocky after his Bulldogs defeated the Longhorns for the 2nd time in 2024 last weekend.
“Mr. Speaker, I rise today to demand that Texas be sent back to the Big 12,” said Collins. “And to congratulate the 2024 SEC Champion, the Georgia Bulldogs.”
Collins was flanked by a poster board that showed the Georgia players celebrating after winning another SEC title. The congressman mentioned that it was the 2nd time this season that Texas has lost to Georgia, and said that could mean the Longhorns aren’t ready for the SEC.
“The Dawgs have proven without a doubt that Texas just ain’t ready for SEC ball,” said the congressman. “What an incredible win, Mr. Speaker. Not only did the Dawgs smoke Texas in overtime but they did it with class, style, and a backup quarterback.”
Collins was born in Jackson, GA, and has represented GA-10 since 2023. The congressman graduated from Georgia State University but is a diehard fan of the Bulldogs.
“The Dawgs aren’t done yet,” said Collins. “As we move into the Playoff, don’t let off the gas. You’ve got a National Championship to bring back to Athens and don’t let anyone stop you.” The representative then ended his speech with a “Go Dawgs,” chant.
After winning the SEC, the Bulldogs earned the No. 2 seed in the College Football Playoff. As a result, Georgia will have a first-round bye and will play the winner of Indiana-Notre Dame.
