Telemundo Studios, aiming to boost its original content offerings, has hired Jacqueline Castro as Vice President of Production. A former executive at Sony Pictures Entertainment Latin America, she steps into a newly created role where she will be in charge of production strategy, overseeing in-house and third-party productions.
At Telemundo Studios, which revamped its leadership structure earlier this year, Castro will head several Spanish-language production teams and work alongside development executives to assess projects, approve scripts, and make creative adaptations geared toward optimizing production workflows and providing innovative, relevant content for U.S. Hispanic audiences. She’ll manage all stages of production, from pre-production to final delivery, serving as a key link between Telemundo Studios and external production partners, working with executive producers, finance, and production teams on budgeting and overall project strategy to guarantee a seamless execution throughout the creative process.
Castro, who has extensive experience in media and entertainment catering to the Latin American and U.S. Hispanic markets, will report directly to Javier Pons, the Executive Vice President of Telemundo Studios.
“Jacky brings an extraordinary blend of creative vision and operational expertise that will be invaluable as we continue expanding Telemundo Studios’ content slate,” states Pons. “Her deep understanding of Spanish-language media and her commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative productions will play a key role in driving our growth and strengthening our connection with Latino audiences across the globe.”
Castro was most recently Executive Director of Unscripted Content and Production at Sony Pictures Entertainment, overseeing projects for the Latin American and U.S. Hispanic markets. She executive produced unscripted series such as Netflix’s Dale, Dale, TV Azteca’s Escape Perfecto (2023), and Sony Channel’s Shark Tank Mexico (Seasons 7–9) and Shark Tank Colombia (Seasons 5 and 6). She was previously Head Of Production of Content Mexico at Mediapro Studios, where she was executive producer for HBO’s “Las Bravas.” Before that, she spent more than a decade at TV Azteca in Mexico City, where she helped create acclaimed dramas like Nada Personal and Vivir a Destiempo.
“Telemundo’s commitment to delivering bold, groundbreaking content resonates deeply with me,” Castro says. “I am eager to be a part of the next wave of innovative storytelling that will captivate and inspire audiences everywhere.”
