Do you travel often?

And if the answer is yes, do you enjoy taking the Amtrak Acela train to get to your destination?

Then there’s some good news for you, as Amtrak Acela has announced a “brand-new food and beverage onboard experience” for its new fleet of trains.

Here’s what to know about it.

What is the new Amtrak Acela food and beverage service?

The new Amtrak Acela fleet of trains – set to debut this year – will now have a “Cafe Acela” menu “featuring more gourmet and artisan products from sustainably sourced, health-conscious, and local brands.”

The company noted that additional upgrades include a “redesigned physical menu and upgraded, more sustainable packaging.”

What are some of the new menu items?

Amtrak stated that some new items include:

  • Breakfast: Overnight oats, egg frittata, pastries from local bakeries in Boston, New York City and Washington, D.C. Other breakfast items include blueberry muffins, croissants, and sausage, egg and cheese sandwiches.
  • Lunch/Dinner: Mediterranean salad, peppered turkey sandwich, chicken & mozzarella pesto sandwich. Other lunch and dinner dishes include gourmet antipasto trays, fruit trays and turkey and Havarti sandwiches.
  • Snacks: Artisan cheese & fruit tray and a charcuterie plate. Other snacks include beef jerky, gummy bears, peanut-butter cups and Smartfood.
  • Wine: Daou chardonnay and Banshee pinot noir.
The new Cafe Acela menu will be featured on the new fleet of Amtrak Acela trains.

What are Amtrak executives saying about the new service?

“Customers riding on our premium Acela trains expect the very best and thus, it’s essential we continue to evolve our premium offerings and amenities to meet their needs and provide an enhanced experience,” said Amtrak Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Eliot Hamlisch in a press release. “Every aspect of our Cafe Acela menu has been reimagined and improved from viewing the physical menu board, to the delicious menu items and sustainable packaging, providing our customers an outstanding food and beverage experience they can enjoy on their next Acela trip.”

How long has Amtrak been around?

The Amtrack Acela trains are getting a new menu.

The company has been in existence for 50 years. Its trains reach more than 500 destinations across 46 states and parts of Canada. For more information, check out the  Amtrak app or log onto Amtrak.com.
