Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s tennis team is headed to Maine this weekend to begin the 2025 NCAA DIII men’s tennis championships, as announced on Monday afternoon.
The Ducks will head to the Bowdoin (Maine) regional for an opening match with Babson, New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Champions and a top-15 team in the country. Farmingdale State will face Baruch in an opening round match, the winner of that will face the host Bears, and the winner of that match will face the Stevens-Babson winner in a Round of 16 affair.
Stevens earned the automatic berth to the tournament after winning a fifth straight Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom championship last Saturday, blanking Lebanon Valley-5-0 in the final after blanking FDU-Florham 4-0 in the semifinal last Tuesday. Junior Max-William Kanz was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
Earlier on Monday, Stevens cleaned up during the unveiling of MAC Freedom All-Conference Teams, with Kanz taking home Player of the Year honors, Aidan Miller winning Rookie of the Year, and Steve Gachko being tabbed Coach of the Year. Additionally, Kanz, Miller, Olof Persson, and Dhaivik Chenemilla were each named First Team All-Conference, Samvid Andhare and Mihir Parcha were named to the Second Team, and Johnny Haase earned Honorable Mention status.
Babson enters the tournament 20-2 for the Spring, and, like Stevens, took home conference honors for Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Coach/Coaching Staff of the Year.
Forty-four teams in all will compete in several play-in matches, then four rounds of single-elimination competition ahead of the national championship, set for May 22.
