A new Home Depot store could replace American Furniture Warehouse at Christown Spectrum mall, according to recently obtained records from the city of Phoenix.
The home improvement giant filed plans last summer to demolish the existing American Furniture Warehouse to make way for its new store, the city records show.
Christown Spectrum mall, which is owned by Kimco Realty Corp., is undergoing a redevelopment effort that is expected to last over a decade with the goal of transforming Phoenix’s oldest operating indoor mall into a walkable outdoor retail hub including apartments. It’s located on Bethany Home Road just east of Interstate 17. Current tenants include Walmart, Burlington, Five Below, Hobby Lobby and Harkins Theatres.
In 2020, former anchor tenant Costco closed its store at the shopping center. American Furniture Warehouse took over that building in 2022.
