HOUSTON — Online pet supply retailer Chewy Inc. (NYSE: CHWY) has started operating out of its first distribution center in Greater Houston.
Chewy, which is dually headquartered in Boston and Plantation, Florida, signed its lease for the 687,902-square-foot NorthPoint 90 Building 3 at 13250 Crosby Freeway in August 2021, before the building was finished. It started occupying the property, which is owned by Granite REIT and marketed by Colliers, in September 2022, according to CoStar.
Chewy hinted at the large build-out as a reason for why it took until now to get started and said while it began sending the first shipments out to customers early last month, workers had already been receiving shipments and preparing for customer orders much earlier.
A grand opening is planned for June 3. The company held a hiring event in February and at the time said workers could start in April.
