Parking fees are rising from $5 per day to $6 per day at the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport in coming weeks.
The increase is expected to be made by July, said Michael Isaacs, the airport’s director, in an email.
The airport authority board voted for the higher fees because competing airports charge $10 per day, Isaacs said.
He said the fees generate about $250,000 per year that pays for expenses such as operations, maintenance, utilities and equipment upkeep at the airport that is owned jointly by Nez Perce County and the city of Lewiston.
“(The parking fees create) a revenue stream from passengers within the region, including those that do not live in the city of Lewiston or Nez Perce County,” Isaacs said. “Parking revenue lowers the subsidy costs from the airport owners.”
The airport has direct commercial passenger flights to Salt Lake City and Seattle on Delta.
Paddock Spirits of Pullman wins award with its cocktails
PULLMAN — The Strawberry Red Apple cocktail made by Paddock Spirits in Pullman won a double gold award in The Tasting Alliance’s San Francisco World Spirits Ready-To-Drink Competition.
The vodka drink is moving to the next phase of the contest where it will be one of four double-gold winners to compete for a best-in-class award.
The beverage was one of six flavors from Paddock Spirits to be honored. Its Cucumber & Lime netted a gold, while its Cantaloupe & Ginger, Powder Can, Watermelon & Guava took silver awards. The company’s Course Can earned a bronze.
The medals were bestowed by a blind taste test group of more than 100 judges in the wine and spirits industry in a contest that’s been in existence since 1980, according to a news release from Paddock Spirits.
The cocktails are made and canned at a Pullman production center. They can be purchased at more than 150 businesses in Washington and Idaho, including Nomnoms and A & B Foods in Lewiston, Rosauers in Pullman, Sunset Mart in Pullman and the Moscow Food Co-op. They’re expected to be on the shelves soon at Rosauers in Moscow and Lewiston.
Paddock Spirits has its roots in the COVID-19 pandemic when Cory and Blake Preston began selling the cocktails of their bar, Etsi Bravo in Pullman, in to-go containers.
The Prestons’ three partners at Paddock Spirits have close ties to Pullman. They are Tony Poston, Nick Lee and Nick Robertson.
Poston is the executive director of CougsFirst!, a not-for-profit group that’s a network for Washington State University alumni and a founder of College Hill, a branded merchandise company that started making apparel for WSU Greek organizations.
Lee previously worked for Poston at College Hill. He is based in Pullman doing cyber security remotely and handling graphic design for Paddock Spirits. Robertson is general manager of The Emporium, a Pullman bar owned by the Prestons.
