NFL BILL WALSH COACHING FELLOWSHIP OVERVIEW
SAINT PAUL, MINN.—Hamline University assistant football coach (offensive line) Michael Harris is a recipient of the 2025 NFL Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship. Designed as a vocational tool to increase the number of full-time NFL minority coaches, all 32 NFL clubs participate each year. As part of the fellowship, Harris is attending the Los Angeles Chargers OTAs from May 20-30.
He is the second member of the Hamline football coaching staff to be awarded the NFL Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship after head coach Chip Taylor attended the Pittsburgh Steelers OTA in 2023.
Launched in 2012, the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship accepts applicants that meet one of the following prerequisites:
- Former player
- Coaching experience at either the high school, college, and/or other football league level (CFL, XFL, etc.)
Harris, who will embark on his fourth season with the Pipers in 2025, played five seasons in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers and Minnesota Vikings from 2012-16.
