Tycie Jackson, Director of the Luna Community College School of Business, and Fayla Ray, School of Business Accreditation team member, represented the institution at the Global ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business School Programs) Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. ACBSP’s accreditation process follows the Baldrige model. The accreditation focuses on recognizing teaching excellence, determining student learning outcomes, and a continuous improvement model. ACBSP’s student-centered teaching and learning approach, which is measured and analyzed for quality, ensures that students gain the right skills from their educational investment. Institutions with programs accredited by ACBSP are committed to continuous improvement that ensures their business program will give students the skills employers want.
LCC’s School of Business began its self-study in 2023 and completed its accreditation reaffirmation report in July 2024. A team of reviewers visited Luna Community College in October 2024 for an on-site review of the School of Business. Notification was given in December 2024 that the Luna Community College School of Business received reaffirmation of its accreditation with no findings.
“Maintaining Luna’s accreditation since 2014 is a testament to our commitment to high-quality education,” LCC President Carol LInder said. “We deeply appreciate the tireless work of Lead Instructor Aaron Smith, Director Tycie Jackson, and support from Fayla Ray in ensuring our graduates are exceptionally prepared to enter the workforce or seamlessly transfer to a four-year institution.”
Additionally, the ACBSP commissioners were impressed with Standard 5: Faculty Focus and invited Tycie Jackson to present a session at the conference on best practices and strategies that the LCC School of Business program incorporates to create teaching excellence for their students. The conference was held June 19-22 at the Westgate Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
