DENVER (KKTV) – According to reports, the Denver Nuggets have decided to trade Michael Porter Jr., and a former 2023 NBA champion will be heading back to Denver.
ESPN Senior NBA Insider Shams Charania confirmed the trade.
Charania said the Nuggets would be trading Porter and an unprotected 2032 first-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets for Cam Johnson.
Cam Johnson was a popular player in this free agency cycle. The Nuggets bring him in hoping to get, in return, more consistency and better defense.
Charania also announced Bruce Brown Jr. is reportedly heading back to Denver.
Brown reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the Nuggets. He played a huge role in Denver’s first championship in 2023, coming off the bench before taking a big paycheck in Toronto.
This all comes after NBA free agency began at 4 p.m. Monday.
The Nuggets have a new head coach in David Adelman and a new front office that all agreed they need a deeper roster to chase another championship.
Just a week after announcing the hires of Ben Tenzer, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations and Jonathan Wallace, Executive Vice President of Player Personnel the Nuggets got to work to surround Nikola Jokic with more help.
