Two weeks ago when it was announced that Darren Waller would be joining his former Raiders teammates in the Battle for Vegas charity softball game, it was as a retired NFL player. Now, it will be as a Miami Dolphin. The former Raiders Pro Bowl tight end came out of retirement today as the Dolphins acquired him in trade with the New York Giants.
The softball game is set to take place on July 12 at the Las Vegas Ballpark in Downtown Summerllin. And as of now, according to officials organizing the event, Waller is still on the confirmed roster for Team Brock Bowers.
The rest of the Team Brock Bowers roster is made up of current Raiders players including WR Jack Bech, P AJ Cole, K Daniel Carlson, T Thayer Munford Jr., CB Eric Stokes, QB Aidan O’Connell, DB Jeremy Chinn, and RB Sincere McCormick.
Waller had become known for his charitable work since the Raiders arrived in Vegas in 2020 — a Pro Bowl season for the tight end. This event will bring Waller back to Vegas to reunite with several former teammates while raising money for charities such as the Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas LIFE, Make-A-Wish Nevada, Best Buddies and Assisting Lives in Las Vegas.

It’s great to see Waller back in the league after a year away. And it will be good to see him back in Las Vegas for a good cause and to reconnect with his former teammates from his most successful run as a pro.
