Port Aransas businesses thrive as tourists flock for the Fourth of July, with local shops seeing a sales boost and nearly all rental golf carts booked.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The summer season is in full swing, especially over Fourth of July weekend in coastal cities like Port Aransas.
Keith Dunning manages several local businesses, including Island Outfitters.
“It’s been incredible with the golf carts, with the Airbnb’s, hats off to the City of Port A,” Dunning said.
Dunning said there are 58 golf carts in his fleet and 90% of them are already booked for the summer season.
“We have a couple of partners that that we partner with in Port Aransas and we’ve been blessed that we have been sold out,” Dunning said. “We tried to accommodate with some cancellations but please book ahead.”
Christian Reisinger manages The Shack, a shop that sells a variety of items, from jewelry to clothing. She said she looks forward to the busy summer season.
“Summer has been fantastic so far. We’ve definitely had an increase in foot traffic for Fourth of July. It makes me really happy to see everyone’s out and about enjoying themselves for the holiday and getting their Fourth of July celebrations on,” Reisinger said.
Reisinger said many local businesses rely on the summer season to carry them through the slower months.
“So summertime is definitely the season to make money here and save it to help get you through the winter. So we really love the influx, the extra influx of traffic from places like Austin, San Antonio, Houston. We see a wide variety of people come down and they’re having a good time spending money, shopping and supporting all of us so it’s really nice to see,” Reisinger said.
