Soft-drink giant PepsiCo has announced it is closing down production at its plant in Detroit, Michigan, with around 80 employees set to be laid off.
In a statement shared with media outlets this week, Pepsi said it is ceasing manufacturing, transport and maintenance operations at its Detroit site.
“Supporting those impacted”
“Our warehouse, fleet, delivery, sales and field service teams will continue to operate at this location,” the company said, per The Detroit Free Press.
“We are committed to supporting those impacted through this transition, and we are offering pay and benefits to impacted employees.”
When will Pepsi’s Detroit site stop production?
In a document published on the website of the state of Michigan’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, Pepsi confirmed that production, maintenance and transport operations are slated to shut down on Saturday, September 27.
All affected employees were notified on Monday, July 21, Pepsi said.

- Assoc admin assistant: 1
- HSE assoc manager: 1
