It’s been a busy week for San Antonio Brahmas headed to the NFL. EDGE Garrett Nelson has signed with the Denver Broncos, following a couple of workouts he received this summer in the NFL.
Garrett has played in the UFL the last two seasons with the Brahmas. He was actually the only edge rusher to return for 2025, following a strong campaign in 2024.
Nelson posted 13 tackles, two TFL’s, and 2.5 sacks with San Antonio in 2024. He was one of the highest graded players in San Antonio by PFF, with a Defensive Grade of 86.0. He was a tremendous pass rusher, with an 82.2 grade in that category.
This past UFL season, Garrett was a part of an interesting rotation in San Antonio, featuring mostly new pieces. He racked up 12 tackles and 13 QB pressures, starting in six of eight games played. Nelson finished the year with a strong 70.7 Defensive Grade, via PFF.
Now, he makes his way back to the NFL – this time with the Denver Broncos. The former Nebraska product spent some time with the Miami Dolphins in 2023, prior to joining the UFL with the Brahmas.
Yesterday, Brahmas safety Henry Black also made his way to the NFL, signing with the Falcons. Nelson isn’t the first UFL player targeted by Denver, as they also signed Stallions CB Mario Goodrich earlier this summer.
Without the national platform that the UFL provided him with, who knows if this would have been made possible. You can stay up to date on all UFL to NFL signings with our official tracker.
