If you love capybaras, we’ve got some great news for you! There’s a brand-new capybara cafe in Georgia… where you can cuddle, pet, play with and feed real live capybaras… and it’s just a short drive from Atlanta.
Where is the new Capybara Cafe in Georgia?
Capyfriends Cafe just opened up in Helen, Georgia, the state’s adorable Alpine Village.
Helen, known for its adorable German downtown village, Oktoberfest, and beautiful nature just got a little bit better with the introduction of their Capybara Cafe!

What can guests expect at Capyfriends Cafe?
First of all, guests can expect tons of capybara cuddles and fun!
Here are some of your options for the capybara cafe:
- Capybara Experience ($75/person for 30 minutes) – in this experience, you’ll be able to get up close and personal with the gentle, curious capybara! You can pet, cuddle and enjoy playful interactions with live capybaras, as well as feed them capybara-friendly treats!
- Capybara and Friends Experience ($125/person for 1 hour) – in this experience, you’ll get to enjoy feeding and photo ops with capybaras and other unique animals. Learn about each species, as you unwind with capybaras, hedgehogs, prairie dogs and more. (The additional friends are subject to change each availability!)
You can also book private sessions with either just the capybaras or capybaras and friends.

Light snacks and drinks are also available for purchase at the cafe, but don’t come expecting a meal! And if you’re thinking… wait, is that sanitary? Capyfriends Cafe clarifies,
Food and beverages will not be allowed inside the room with the capybaras, but you may also spend time in the cafe before/after your Capyfriends Experience, cafe operating hours permitting.
How did the capybara cafe come to be in Helen, GA?
This unique experience is possible because of a partnership between Nacoochee Adventures and North Georgia Wildlife & Safari Park. Nacoochee Adventures hosts all of the cafe’s Capyfriends experiences, and NOGAWILD is a zoological facility in Cleveland, GA where the capybaras live and are cared for
