Choosing where to attend college is one of the biggest decisions a young adult can make.

With thousands of schools across the U.S. offering a vast array of different academic programs and majors, it can be difficult to narrow down which school is best for you and your career.

LinkedIn released its first-ever Top Colleges 2025 rankings to determine which schools are best for long-term career success in the U.S. Fortunately for those in Ohio, one school included in LinkedIn’s rankings is located right here in the Buckeye State.

Miami University, located in Oxford, Ohio, is one of the 50 best colleges in the U.S. for long-term career success, according to the LinkedIn report. Miami ranks 35th on the list of schools that includes Princeton (No. 1), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (No. 4), Harvard University (No. 6) and more.

Miami University, a public university, has an undergraduate enrollment of 20,445, according to LinkedIn’s report. The average cost of in-state tuition is $18,162, while out-of-state tuition costs $40,822. Some of the most popular programs at Miami include data science, scientific computing and advertising, according to the report.

After graduation, some of the most popular industries for Miami graduates to work in include business consulting and services, technology and internet, and medical practices in cities such as Cincinnati, located an hour south of Miami University, Columbus and Chicago, per LinkedIn.

The top 10 colleges for long-term career success in the U.S., according to LinkedIn, are:

  1. Princeton University
  2. Duke University
  3. University of Pennsylvania
  4. Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  5. Cornell University
  6. Harvard University
  7. Babson College
  8. University of Notre Dame
  9. Dartmouth College
  10. Stanford University

To compile its rankings, LinkedIn compared colleges across the U.S. across five pillars that were weighed equally: job placement, internships and recruiter demand, career success, network strength and knowledge breadth, according to the report’s methodology. To be eligible for the rankings, colleges must be accredited four-year baccalaureate programs that are actively enrolling students and based in the U.S.

The full report from LinkedIn ranking the top 50 colleges in the U.S. can be found online.

“Ohio’s colleges and universities compete for students at a time when overall enrollment in higher education is declining,” said Laura Hancock, higher education reporter for cleveland.com / The Plain Dealer. “Miami University will likely use this new recognition in its marketing and recruitment efforts. It may convince families that Miami is the right investment for their son or daughter.”
