This Houston senior was losing hope until someone saw her story and decided to act.
HOUSTON — A Houston senior citizen who feared dangerous trees could crash into her home has found help after KHOU 11 aired her story, with a local tree service owner volunteering his services free of charge.
Margaret Johnson, a senior with a disability living on a fixed income, had been struggling to find assistance with potentially hazardous trees on her property.
“I can’t get any help… anyone to come and cut it down,” Johnson said in yesterday’s report.
After the story aired, Kirby White, owner of Branch Busters tree service, reached out to help. With 35 years of experience in the business, White immediately assessed Johnson’s property and identified multiple safety concerns.
“This lady says I need help… I really need this and this tree is gonna fall on my house. I go, I’ll cut that,” White said.
During his inspection, White discovered dead trees with fungus, overgrown vines, and even poison ivy that posed risks to Johnson’s home. He reassured the worried homeowner about the work ahead.
“I can cut off some limbs and cut out the vines, and then your tree will be so much safer, so much safer. And you won’t have to worry as much,” White told Johnson.
“I’m not gonna charge you anything and cut this stuff. Make your house safer…” White said.
“Thank you, and bless Channel 11, they always come through, I really do thank you,” Johnson said.
The two have scheduled the tree removal work for next week.
