MIAMI GARDENS ― The Miami Dolphins are signing kicker Riley Patterson to their practice squad, general manager Chris Grier said.
The plan is to elevate Patterson on game day in the first three weeks of the season.
Miami is hoping kicker Jason Sanders doesn’t much too many games at the start of this season with an injury.
- Riley Patterson is a 25-year-old from Illinois who played college ball at Memphis.
- Patterson has kicked in 44 games for the Lions, Jaguars, Browns, Jets and Falcons. He’s made 85.1 percent of kicks, which is around league average.
- Patterson is only 4-of-9 from 50 or more yards, so he’s pretty accurate but does not having a booming leg.
- With the Jaguars in 2022, Patterson madae a game-winning field goal in a playoff game.
- Patterson is a distant cousin of NFL defensive end A.J. Epenesa. His high school coach was the father of WNBA player Kate Martin.
