Most city offices and agencies will be closed Friday and Monday because of a citywide furlough day and then the Labor Day holiday.
The closures include the clerk and recorder’s office, the Denver auditor’s office and the mayor’s office. Police officers and firefighters will still report for duty. Most city employees are required to take at least two unpaid furlough days by the end of the year to help address budget shortfalls, and Friday is the first of two designated days.
The call center for the city’s non-emergency report line, 311, will be closed both days. Reports can still be made online at denvergov.org or by texting “hi” to 439311.
Other impacts for Friday and Monday:
- All Denver recreation centers will be closed both days, but they will follow their normal weekend hours on Saturday and Sunday.
- No compost is being picked up this week, including on Friday. Solid waste collection will resume next week, with pickups delayed by one day.

- The Denver Animal Shelter will be open Friday and closed Monday.
- City golf courses will be open both days.

- Denver Health will be open.
