CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – For the first time in Cleveland history, the Cavaliers will be offering a Spanish broadcast on Telemundo Cleveland.
This comes after weeks of planning and community outreach to ensure that the correct motives are made.

“That’s kind of who the Cavs are,” Kevin Clayton, the Cavs’ Senior Vice President, Head of Social Impact and Equity, said. “We like leading from the front and we’re not afraid to be innovative and try different things.”
“More so than that, under the umbrella of just doing what is absolutely the right thing to do. How could we leave out 10 to 12% of our community and not provide them with the same kind of resources and support that we provide for other communities?” Clayton said.
The Cavs, hoping to rightfully represent the communities they are including, spoke with many latin leaders to get their opinions on the matter.
This list includes first Cleveland Puerto-Rican Congresswoman Jasmine Santana, and first Puerto-Rican basketball player Butch Lee.
“We want to do those kinds of things on a consistent basis,” Clayton said. “We are partnering with Central Villa, which is the Hispanic business center here and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.”
“We believe that it’s not just what we do on the court or in this building,” he said. “We love the fact that the broadcast is going to be televised, but we also know that we have more to do outside in the community and we’re just trying to do those kinds of things that make a difference.”
