LANSING, Ill. – The Lansing Historical Society will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026. Society members are looking forward to marking this milestone by highlighting the history made during the most recent 50 years.
One of the important happenings of the last 50 years was Lansing’s growth in the diversity of its population. From the German and Dutch heritage of the first settlers to the amazing number of ethnic groups that live here now, it is a change we want to celebrate.
We are asking community members to share with us the story of their heritage and bring to the Lansing Historical Museum some artifacts that highlight their ancestors’ culture.
Since it is currently Hispanic Heritage Month, we will begin by asking community members with Hispanic heritage to bring to the museum an article or two they would like to share.
Currently we have on display some items from our own collection that we usually display with the Mexican and Puerto Rican Christmas trees. We would love to see more. You can share photos, artwork of any kind, articles of clothing, or even music!
