BOSTON – Representative Arciero proudly nominated Marisol Garcia for recognition at the 2025 Latino Excellence on the Hill Awards, hosted by the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus. The annual event celebrates the contributions and leadership of Latino individuals who are making a meaningful impact across the Commonwealth. Marisol Garcia has dedicated over 25 years of her legal career to advocating for youth and families at every stage of the cradle-to-prison pipeline. Since 2016, she has served as Director, and now Deputy Director, of the Mental Health Advocacy Program for Kids (MHAP for Kids), the largest child advocacy program in Massachusetts. Under her leadership, MHAP for Kids expanded statewide, increasing its capacity by over 600% and placing attorneys in Family Resource Centers across the Commonwealth to support children facing mental health challenges. In addition to her legal and advocacy work, Marisol recently concluded her term on the Westford School Committee (2022–2025), where she continued her lifelong commitment to public service and educational equity. “Marisol Garcia is a tireless and effective leader whose 25-year career has been dedicated to advocating for the youth,” said Representative Arciero. “I was proud to nominate her for this well-deserved recognition, and I thank the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus for honoring the incredible work of leaders like Marisol.” In 2022, Marisol was named one of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s Top Women of Law, and she continues to serve as an ambassador for Health Law Advocates (HLA), developing strategic partnerships and guiding statewide advocacy efforts. Marisol received her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in 1997 and her B.A., magna cum laude, from Providence College in 1994.
