The Stan State Bookstore offers a wide variety of items for students, from academic supplies like pencils, notebooks and Scantrons to campus merchandise and fun products. In addition to these essentials, the bookstore also carries entertainment items, including stuffed animals, comics and keychains.

The inclusion of these items has sparked discussions about the store’s purpose and how its selection supports students’ well-being.

Aldo Merlos (Junior, Business) shared his thoughts on the wide variety of options the bookstore has to offer.

“Absolutely, there’s drinks, snacks, and such, so yeah, I feel like the selection is pretty good,” Merlos said.

While Merlos is satisfied with the bookstore’s variety, other students have suggestions for improvements.

Raquel Alonso (Senior, Liberal Studies) said she would like the bookstore to carry more items useful to her..

“I think they can do a little more, I feel like a lot of the stuff is not as useful to me, so I think they can do a little better than that,” Alonso stated.

She also mentioned that expanding clothing sizes could make the merchandise more inclusive.

“I think a lot more with the merchandise, where some of the sizes for the Stanislaus state shirts aren’t available, so I feel like the bigger sizes for the clothes would be nice,” she said

According to the bookstore manager Gabrielle Archuleta, the range of products is designed to appeal to both academic and social aspects of student life.

“So, we try to bring in a good variety of product, not just clothing wise that’s custom for students, but also to bring that fun since we’re in the student center, so it gives the students an opportunity to kind of mingle with each other, and play games, but also do a little bit of stuff outside of the university,” Archuleta stated.

Located in the Student Center, the Stan State Bookstore continues to provide academic materials, campus apparel, and general merchandise to serve the needs and interests of the students. For those interested in visiting, the bookstore is open Monday-Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursdays-Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
