Down 3-2 in the series, the Dodgers staved off elimination with a wild 3-1 victory in Game 6.
With one out and the tying run on second base and game winning run at the plate, Blue Jays’ shortstop Andres Gimenez hit a shallow fly ball to left field, that allowed Dodgers’ left fielder Kike Hernandez to charge in to make the catch and double off Blue Jays’ right fielder Addison Barger, with Dodgers’ second baseman Miguel Rojas making a nice scoop on a hop to end the game and force a Game 7.
Fresh off of pitching the first complete game in the World Series in a decade, Dodgers’ ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto was sharp again on Friday, giving up just one run on five hits with six strikeouts as he pitched six solid innings.
Blue Jays ace Kevin Gausman was solid early for the Blue Jays (eight strikeouts, three hits and three runs allowed in six innings), but a troubling third inning ultimately decided the game. The Dodgers scored all three runs in the top half of the inning, coming from an RBI double by catcher Will Smith and a two-run single from shortstop Mookie Betts, all with two outs.
Now it all comes down to one final game with everything on the line to conclude the 2025 season.
The winner-take-all Game 7 will decide whether the Dodgers cement themselves as the first champions to repeat in a quarter century, or if the Blue Jays will win their first World Series in more than three decades.
