ATHENS, Ga. – Senior Will Jansen advanced to the singles quarterfinals of the ITA South Sectional on Friday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex and is set for an NCAA Singles Tournament qualifying match against Mississippi State’s Bryan Hernandez Cortes tomorrow.

Singles – Round of 16
Eli Stephenson (Kentucky) def. Gabriele Vulpitta, 6-1, 7-5
No. 103 Will Jansen def. Facundo Yunis (Indiana), 6-3, 6-3
Matic Kriznik (Alabama) def. Santiago Giamichelle, 7-6(2), 4-6, 6-3
 
Singles – Consolation Round of 16
Derrick Chen def. Stefano D’Agnostino (Ole Miss), 7-6(8), 7-5
Nour Fathalla (Purdue) def. Cooper Johnson, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3
No. 80 Arda Azkara def. Jonathan Irwanto (Georgia Tech), 6-1, 7-6(3)
 
Doubles – Quarterfinals
S. Landau/F. Yunis (Indiana) def. Cooper Johnson/Gabry Vulpitta, 6-2, 6-2
 
Doubles – Consolation Quarterfinals
No. 84 Derrick Chen/Santi Giamichelle def. J. Jupa/C. Grove (UT-Chattanooga), 6-4, 6-4
 
UP NEXT
No. 103 Will Jansen will take on Bryan Hernandez Cortes (Mississippi State) in the singles quarterfinals for berth in the NCAA Singles Tournament later this month at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. In doubles, No. 30 Azkara/Jansen and No. 84 Chen/Giamichelle advanced in the consolation draw.
