In November 2025, days after the LA Dodgers secured their ninth World Series title and the first repeat championship since the 1998-2000 Yankees, a claim circulated online that the MLB placed the historic win under review, meaning it could be suspended.
For example, on Nov. 4, 2025, the Facebook page Dodger Blue Dominion posted (archived) the story writing, “Major League Baseball has officially placed the 2025 World Series under review in a stunning move that has sent shockwaves through the sport.”
The post displayed a picture of MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred with the caption, “Baseball’s biggest celebration just turned into its darkest mystery – could the 2025 World Series title actually be overturned?”
Other Facebook pages (archived, archived, archived) with usernames of various MLB teams also shared the same claim. Some of those posts featured links in top comments leading to articles hosted by WordPress blogs, such as one advertisement-filled story hosted on the daily.livextop.com website (archived).
However, searches of Bing, DuckDuckGo, Google and Yahoo found no news media outlets reporting the alleged statement that daily.livextop.com said the MLB released about reportedly placing the 2025 World Series championship under review (archived, archived, archived, archived). Prominent news media outlets would have widely reported this statement, if true.
Rather, the person or people who authored the story fabricated the entire tale as one of many about current events in baseball. They aimed to earn advertising revenue on websites linked from the aforementioned Facebook posts. Therefore, we rate this claim false.
Snopes reached out to the MLB to ask about Dodger Blue Dominion’s report and await a reply to our query. The reported story did not appear on MLB Communications’ X profile, the account belonging to the Major League Baseball Communications Department.
We also contacted a manager of the Dodger Blue Dominion Facebook page to ask how it sourced the stories displayed on the feed and will update this story if we receive more information.
