Josh Allen is an MVP quarterback, not an author. But he keeps rewriting the NFL record books.
Allen didn’t just have his best game of the season Sunday, he delivered one of the most prolific performances by a quarterback in NFL history as the Buffalo Bills defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 44-32 on Sunday.
Allen accounted for six total touchdowns — three passing and three rushing — against Tampa Bay, resetting multiple league records and joining (or creating) some of the rarest statistical clubs in football.
He completed 19 of 30 passes for 317 yard with three touchdowns and two interceptions, and ran for 40 yards and three touchdowns on six attempts.
Josh Allen milestones vs. Buccaneers
- New NFL record: It marked Allen’s 11th career game with 3+ passing TDs and 1+ rushing TD, breaking Tom Brady’s all-time record (10), including playoffs.
- Ties QB rushing record: Allen’s third rushing touchdown gave him 75 career regular-season rushing TDs, tying Cam Newton for the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in NFL history.
- Passes Peyton Manning: With six total touchdowns Sunday, Allen now has 290 career touchdowns, passing Peyton Manning (288) for the most total TDs by any player age 30 or younger. Allen turns 30 in May.
- Career leader with 3+ pass TD/2+rush TD games: Today was Allen’s third career game with 3+ passing TDs and 2+ rushing TDs, breaking a tie with Kordell Stewart for the most in NFL history.
- Historic 3 pass/3 rush TD combo: Allen was already the only player since the NFL-AFL merger to record three passing and three rushing touchdowns in the same game (Dec. 8, 2024 vs. Rams). Now he’s the only player with multiple games of the sort.
- 40-yard TD passes: His 52-yard touchdown to Ty Johnson made this Allen’s fourth career game with multiple 40+ yard passing touchdowns.
