Vanderbilt football is ranked No. 14 in the College Football Playoff rankings, the same as its ranking last week.
Vanderbilt (9-2, 5-2 SEC) is still behind a quintet of other SEC teams in Texas A&M, Georgia, Ole Miss, Oklahoma and Alabama as it heads to Knoxville to face Tennessee (8-3, 4-3) at Neyland Stadium on Nov. 29 (2:30 p.m. CT, ESPN).
If current rankings hold, the Commodores may not make the playoff even with a win over Tennessee. One of Notre Dame, Alabama, Oklahoma or possibly Ole Miss would likely need to lose this week, coupled with Texas Tech winning the Big 12.
Playoff berths go to the five highest-ranked conference champions along with seven at-large bids. Vanderbilt cannot make the SEC Championship Game, so it will need to qualify via the at-large route.
