Trade pitch has Yankees acquiring Freddy Peralta in blockbuster.
The Atlanta Braves have had quite the offseason so far. They’ve cleared up the necessary holes in the back end of the bullpen and up the middle by signing Robert Suarez and bringing back Ha-Seong Kim. Atlanta also added a depth outfielder by handing out a two-year contract to Mike Yastrzemski.
The last item of need for Atlanta is another starting pitcher. Just like basically every MLB team, the Braves dealt with injuries in their rotation last offseason, which really held them back. Alex Anthoupolus is on record saying Atlanta’s last remaining need this offseason is a starter. A recent trade idea would be the best possible scenario for the Braves, as they would land Brewers’ starter Freddy Peralta.

Braves Trade Idea Lands Freddy Peralta
Since it’s MLB’s hot stove season, the rumors are swirling from all angles, and recent trade speculation indicates that the Milwaukee Brewers may be willing to trade Freddy Peralta this offseason if they receive the right trade package.
In a recent trade idea by ClutchPoints.com, the Braves are predicted to make one final big splash this offseason and trade for Freddy Peralta to give them one of the best starting rotations in baseball:
In the hypothetical deal, the Braves receive Freddy Peralta in exchange for Hurston Waldrep and pitching prospect Blake Burkhalter.

The reason there is speculation that Peralta could be dealt this offseason is that this is his last season under team control, and the Brewers aren’t usually big spenders, so the belief if he will walk once free agency comes and sign elsewhere. As the Mets and Phillies continue to make moves this offseason, Atlanta must keep pace.

Freddy Peralta Has Become a True Ace
As for what Atlanta would be receiving in this mock trade, Freddy Peralta is blossoming into a true ace after coming off his best season in MLB. Over 176.2 innings and 33 starts in 2025, Peralta posted a 2.70 ERA with 204 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.08.
He has three straight seasons of 30+ starts and 200+ strikeouts. Peralta finished fifth in the NL CY Young voting last season.
And for what the Braves would be giving up, Hurston Waldrep developed into a quality arm in what was really his first real MLB action. In 56.1 innings, Waldrep had a 2.88 ERA over 9 starts and punched out 55 batters.
This is the type of arm that the Brewers will likely be able to develop into a future ace.
Adding Peralta to the Braves’ rotation, which includes Spencer Schwellenbach and Chris Sale, would give Atlanta a real three-headed monster.
It remains unclear how serious Milwaukee is about trading Peralta, but if more reports surface that they might be willing to deal him, Atlanta should make a serious pursuit of obtaining the two-time All-Star starter.
