On December 20, the 2025 Melon Music Awards took place, with numerous groups and artists in attendance.
Many were surprised by BLACKPINK Jennie‘s attendance and performance, as the idol does not often attend Korean award shows. She looked gorgeous as she walked the red carpet and won the “Record Of The Year” award during the ceremony.

The idol also performed during the show, performing “Zen,” “Seoul City,” and “Like Jennie.”
However, part of her performance has gone viral, due to the assumption of a connection with EXO‘s Kai and G-Dragon.

In the 2019 it was revealed that Kai and Jennie were in a relationship, though they broke up shortly after Dispatch exposed the relationship. Similarly, Dispatch claimed that G-Dragon and Jennie were in a relationship in 2021, with rumors persisting due to YG Entertainment’s response.

During her performance, fans noticed that Jennie’s lyric “No, I’m not thinking about no exes, know they miss me,” and her actions during it, causing a clip to go viral.

Many assumed that the “smirk” and look was directed to Kai and G-Dragon, who were also some of the artists that attended the awards show.

However, as some netizens pointed out, Kai was not at the show at that point, having left after the group’s performance. Additionally, G-Dragon was not in the audience during Jennie’s performance, as seen in a shot of the artist seating area.

So, technically, this moment was not the call out that many have assumed it to be, any more than the lyrics already do, that is.
