City leaders say that forward planning has been a priority in Hopkinsville, and that work is continuing as the calendar turns to a new year.

From new communication tools to emerging technology and budget planning, officials say several initiatives are already in motion to better serve residents in 2026.

Amanda Brunt, Public Information Officer for the city, says the app has already been used to notify residents about parade-related street closures and will continue to be an important communication tool moving forward.

She also says Hopkinsville is already ahead of the curve when it comes to emerging technology.

According to Administrative Coordinator, Cody Brem, that work is being done through a newly formed AI advisory committee.

Brem says the committee includes representatives from every city department and is focused on responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence.

City leaders say AI could help improve public safety, response times, and overall service delivery.

Brunt says the city is also preparing for the next fiscal year budget, with community input playing a major role.

She encourages residents to stay engaged through city alerts and the city’s podcast platform.

City officials say residents can also submit ideas and suggestions directly through the HopTown 311 app as Hopkinsville plans for the year ahead.
