Springfield, Mass. – January 9, 2026 – Springfield College football junior full back Stanford Davis (Montague, N.J.) has been selected to attend the 2026 NCAA Division III Student Immersion Program at next week’s NCAA Convention taking place in National Harbor Maryland from January 13-16.

The purpose of this program is to create a pipeline of young ethnic minority student athletes interested in Division III coaching and/or administration in an attempt to ultimately diversify this division of the industry.

As a part of this program Davis will have the opportunity to complete workshops and trainings to help develop and hone skills required in the workplace as well as the chance to network with leading professionals in the field.  Davis was among 40 Division III students from across the nation selected into the program and one of three from the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).

Davis, who was selected to the NEWMAC All-Conference First Team, rushed for 853 yards and four touchdowns in 11 game as a junior. His touchdowns came against Husson, WPI, Merchant Marine and Coast Guard and he rushed for over 100 yards in four contests in 2025. Davis recorded a career-best 139 yards on the ground in the NEWMAC title game against Coast Guard on November 8. He also posted a total of 83 rushing yards in the two NCAA Tournament contests against Cortland and Johns Hopkins.

Davis’ acceptance marks the tenth consecutive year that Springfield College has had a student-athlete selected into this program. Last year, Olivia Gentry traveled to Nashville for the convention, in 2024 Samantha Paul and Michael Scott traveled to Phoenix for the convention, in 2023, Aiden Lewin attended the program in San Antonio, and in 2022, Colby Wilson got to complete the program in Indianapolis.

In 2021 the pandemic caused the program to be held virtually and Springfield’s Todd Rogers and Johjan Mussa Robles got selected marking the first time the Pride had two athletes selected to participate. In 2020, AJ Smith traveled to Anaheim to attend the conference, while in 2019, Shamar Martin completed the program in Orlando. Marlowe Scott went to Indianapolis in 2018 and Nick Ruiz traveled to Nashville in 2017 to complete the program.

This past season, the Springfield won its fifth consecutive NEWMAC Championship title and made it to the second round of NCAA Division III Championship Tournament after defeating Cortland at home in the first round, 21-7.
