DENVER – The North Dakota State men’s basketball team improved to 7-0 in The Summit League, picking up an 82-77 road win at Denver on Thursday night.
Trevian Carson scored 23 points to lead the Bison, going a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line. Markhi Strickland added 13 points. Treyson Anderson finished with 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
The game was tied 72-72 with just over two minutes remaining. Noah Feddersen scored a bucket in traffic to give NDSU the lead, then drained a pair of free throws on the next possession. The Bison led 76-72 with one minute left.
After an empty possession for the Pioneers, Andy Stefonowicz drained a contested three from the corner late in the shot clock, icing the victory for the Bison with 0:26 left.
NDSU shot 51 percent overall and made 11-of-26 (42 percent) from beyond the arc. Denver made 48 percent overall and shot 12-of-28 (43 percent) from downtown.
The Bison are 7-0 in Summit League play for only the second time in school history, joining 2012-13. NDSU improved to 17-5 overall.
The Bison will travel to Tulsa, Okla., to take on Oral Roberts on Saturday night.
