Amon-Ra St. Brown on Lions missing playoffs
St. Brown said that it hurts to watch other teams play in the playoffs with the Lions’ season already over.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown will get to show off his skills in a different sport.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, St. Brown and Los Angeles Chargers receiver Keenan Allen will play in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, which is taking place at the Intuit Arena in Los Angeles on Friday, Feb. 13. Hall-of-Famer Calvin Johnson was the last Lions player to have played in the All-Star Celebrity Game, appearing at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City for the 2023 edition of the game.
Though the full rosters for the 2026 game haven’t been revealed, participants in the game will include ESPN NBA reporter Shams Charania, Memphis rapper GloRilla and Los Angeles music producer Mustard, with Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts tabbed to coach one of the teams.
Despite the Lions finishing the 2025 season with a 9-8 record and in last place in the NFC North, St. Brown put together his fourth-straight Pro Bowl season. He finished the season tied for second in the NFL with 11 touchdown receptions while his 117 receptions and 1,401 receiving yards both were fifth in the league.
In response to the news, the Lions social media team posted a video of St. Brown showing off his triple threat and step-back jumper.
St. Brown says he grew up playing basketball and soccer with his brothers in Southern California while developing into a football star. And though the 6-foot St. Brown is about seven inches shorter than the average NBA player, he’ll get a chance to show his game on the court.
And even if he doesn’t pan out on the hardwood, he can always go back to playing NBA 2K for his basketball fix.
