ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – At Bene Korean Steakhouse in Atlanta, things are heating up after learning that the Braves signed Gold Glove winner Ha-Seong Kim.
Kim was picked up off waivers earlier this week.
“We are so proud, and, in our community, we are so excited,” Bene Korean Steakhouse employee Young Kim said.
Young Kim, no relation to the Braves shortstop, said he is looking forward to seeing his fellow native in an upcoming game at Truist Park.
“Yes, I know him. He’s really famous in Korea. So, when he played in Korea the first time, I saw him and he’s a really good player,” Young Kim said.
The Braves’ new acquisition has Atlanta’s Korean community buzzing. So much so, they plan to show Kim’s first home game with the Braves on Atlanta News First inside their restaurant.
“My father was so excited the other day, and he was telling me about it and now I was like I have to go watch it,” employee Jungin Yun said.
In true Korean fashion, Kim’s fans wanted to give him a special welcome to Atlanta in Korean of course.
He said they are so proud of Kim and are always watching his games. They also invited him to their restaurant for a home cooked meal.
“He’s moving to our city, and we are really proud of him, and we are so happy to watch the game,” Young Kim said.
