GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – It was a day of color, culture, and community at Belvoir Elementary School.
Pitt County Schools is celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month and students are showing their pride through music, dance, and tradition.
Belvoir Elementary Students took the stage to perform dances representing different Latin American countries – each one filled with pride and excitement. The school gym was decorated with bright flags and vibrant colors as families gathered to cheer on their children. Teachers and the principal say it’s an important way to help students connect what they learn in the classroom to the real world around them.
“The students were so excited about showing their talents about singing and dancing and for the families they had a sense of pride that their students are learning about different walks of life here at Belvoir,” Principal Deirdre Ingram said.
As Hispanic Heritage month comes to a close, Belvoir Elementary hopes this celebration inspires students to carry those lessons of pride and inclusion throughout the year.
This celebration marks the district’s effort to highlight the diversity that enriches Pitt County schools and to teach students the importance of cultural pride and unity.
Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated each year from september 15 to october 15.
