PEORIA — The Bradley Braves added more shooting Saturday to an already impressive group of guards.
Wright State senior starter Alex Huibregtse announced on social media that he has committed to the Braves via the NCAA transfer portal, ending a process in which he visited Penn State, and had interest from Wisconsin, Iowa State and other Power 4 programs.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Wright State redshirt star has appeared in 32 games in each of the last three seasons, and played in 124 career games over parts of five years. He started all 32 games in the 2024-25 season for the 15-18 Wright State team in the Horizon League, and averaged 13.5 points per game with 3.1 assists and 3.1 rebounds.
“Peoria, what’s good?!” he wrote on social media.
Huibregtse scored 13 points against Bradley in a game the Braves won, 77-74, on the way to the Myrtle Beach Invitational championship in November.
He was slowed at times by a lower back injury, but still shot 42.3% from the field and 37.7% from 3-point range and made 90 3-pointers on the season.
He is a 45.3% career shooter from the field and 37.7% from 3. He dished out 281 assists in his Wright State career and averaged 26.7 minutes per game.
Huibregtse played at Grafton High School (Wis.) and was a first-team all-state selection as a senior.
In his second year at Wright State, he suffered a season-ending back injury after appearing in three games. He reached 1,000 career points on Jan. 15 of the 2024-25 season.
The Braves have a deep and talented guard group despite the departures of 2024-25 starting tandem Duke Deen and Zek Montgomery, both of whom exhausted their eligibility.
Huibregtse brings experience and veteran presence to a 2025-26 Bradley guard group that includes incoming freshman returnees Demarion Burch and Jaquan Johnson plus incoming freshmen Montana Wheeler, Matthew Zobrist and Dietrich Richardson.
He could also see a role as a wing for BU.
Bravely Speaking
Former Bradley star guard Darrell Brown Jr. is not returning to the Braves coaching staff in 2025-26. He spent the last two seasons as director of player development and worked closely with the program’s guards. Brown is believed to be looking for an opportunity with a team closer to his Memphis, Tenn., hometown.
