INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Magic Thread Cabaret is set to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with its upcoming Cabaret Latino event at the Basile Theater in the Indiana Historical Society.
“Cabaret Latino, Songs of the Americas” will have two 90-minute shows at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 10 and Oct. 16, and will feature a showcase of Latin American music by Latin artists who have become superstars in America, such as Bad Bunny, Shakira, and Gloria Estefan.
The performances will include a mix of popular songs and classic Latin music, reflecting the diverse cultural heritage of Latin America.
Tom Alvarez, groundbreaking broadcaster and managing director of the Magic Thread Cabaret, joined the show, along with featured performer Heva Luna Spacey.
Alvarez says Cabaret Latino aims to highlight the contributions of Latin American culture to American society through music and performance. “This is a personal statement of mine. I’m Mexican-American. It is the soundtrack of my experience living between two cultures,” Alvarez said.
Spacey added, “(This performance) means a lot. I, too, am in between two cultures. I was born in Venezuela, but I grew up here.” Spacey will be singing songs by Shakira and Selena Quintanilla, expressing her connection to her Venezuelan roots and her American upbringing.
The event will include 18 songs performed by four singers, accompanied by a 10-piece band and dancers. The performances will be bilingual, offering a blend of English and Spanish songs
General admission tickets are $30, but seniors, students, and Indiana Historical Society members can snag tickets for $25.
