July is a pretty awesome month if you’re a Utahn. We have not one but two holidays! But why limit the fun to just two days? Check out KSL Events, our new online calendar with all the things to do in Utah every day. Make plans by choosing your activity type or searching by location; we’ll give you a list of happenings, from workshops to music and sports.
Here are a few celebratory, family-friendly activities happening the week of July 20-26.
Days of ’47 Float Preview Party
You probably already know about the Days of ’47 Parade — when wagons, horses, parade floats and fire trucks roll down Salt Lake City’s State Street. But did you also know that you can see all those floats before the actual parade at a Preview Party? The free preshow takes place July 21 and 22 at the Mountain America Expo Center in Sandy from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Fiesta Days in Spanish Fork
Head over to Spanish Fork for some festive food, a carnival and a craft fair for Fiesta Days. Activities begin at 4 p.m. each day. The annual Utah County event culminates with a fireworks spectacular on July 24 at 10 p.m. If you have some in-between time to fill, you could attend the community theater presentation of “Shrek the Musical.”
Fiesta Days in Kamas
Kamas Valley Fiesta Days continues an 80-plus-year tradition of celebrating as only a small town could. On Monday, there’s a drag race down Main Street at 7 p.m. On Tuesday, it’s cornhole at the Kamas Event Center at 7 p.m. Pioneer weekend events in Utah wouldn’t be complete without a rodeo, concert and fireworks show.
Pioneer Days
What better way to celebrate the pioneers than with themed activities? America West Heritage Center in Wellsville is hosting demonstrations to teach you about life as an early settler. Visit an early farm, take a pony ride and learn how to make a knot doll.
Brian Head’s 50th Birthday Party
Brian Head is turning 50! Join the birthday celebration July 25-26 at the Giant Steps Base Area. You’ll find family-friendly activities, chairlift rides, lift-accessed mountain biking and more. In the evening, relax on the lawn as you listen to live music.
Mega Peruvian Festival
Taste Peruvian food, see dazzling costumes and experience traditional music and dance at the Mega Peruvian Festival. It takes place at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Salt Lake City on July 26, from 11 a.m. to midnight. Admission is free before 2 p.m.
Ogden Arts Festival
Brigham Young promoted the arts in Utah’s early days, so it seems fitting to attend the Ogden Arts Festival this week. On July 20, from noon to 6 p.m., visit Ogden’s historic Union Station. You’ll see work from more than 100 local and regional artists, cultural performances, musicians and street buskers.
